LINCOLN, Nebraska – Lameakia Collier, Chief Operating Officer of the Nebraska Early Childhood Collaborative (NECC), was appointed to the Early Childhood Education Endowment Board of Trustees by Governor Jim Pillen. The endowment fund, better known as Sixpence, was established in 2006 to provide sustainable funding for high-quality early learning for Nebraska’s underserved children.

Collier brings to the board a wealth of experience in both public and nonprofit leadership roles, including 18 years with Lincoln Public Schools. In her current role as COO at NECC, she ensures sustainable operational excellence, provides internal leadership, and maximizes organizational impact as a strategic advisor and functional expert. Collier also recently graduated from Doane University with a Master of Arts in Leadership degree.

“I’m honored to be joining Sixpence’s Board of Trustees as they celebrate their 20th anniversary,” said Collier. “The fund’s longstanding impact proves that Nebraska is committed to investing in quality early care and education for its communities.”

Collier will serve as one of six board members who help oversee the fiscal management of Sixpence and the competitive grant-making process. In 2024, Sixpence awarded over $10 million in public and private funding to family engagement and home-based services, center-based early care and education services, and school-child care partnerships. Collier will serve on the board through December 31, 2027.
