Celebrating the Class of 2024 Parent Ambassadors

Omaha, NE – In October, we proudly celebrated a significant milestone as 21 Parent Ambassadors from the Class of 2024 graduated from their yearlong advocacy journey. These remarkable individuals dedicated themselves to creating change and amplifying voices within their communities.

Throughout the year, this cohort demonstrated extraordinary commitment by stepping into leadership roles within the United Parent Leaders Action Network (UPLAN). They contributed to key subcommittees like Early Childcare Education, Immigration, and REAL Parent Engagement. Even before graduation, many Ambassadors were already making waves—as UPLAN co-chair candidates, Community Café Parent Leaders, conference speakers, panelists, and founders of nonprofits aimed at supporting children, families with disabilities, immigrants, and foster parents.

The graduation ceremony, held at NECC, was a powerful and emotional event. Each Parent Ambassador took the stage to share their personal journey, reflecting on the challenges they faced, the victories they achieved, and their dreams for the future. Adding to the inspiration, we were honored to welcome Ms. Portia Kennel, a renowned advocate for parent voices. Her message was clear and empowering: fight for seats at every table where decisions impacting children and families are made. Her words left a lasting impression on all in attendance.

Following the ceremony, the celebration continued with a creative team-building activity at That Pottery Place. The evening wrapped up with a wonderful dinner, filled with laughter, connection, and reflection.

To our Class of 2024 Parent Ambassadors: congratulations on this incredible accomplishment! Your hard work and dedication are shaping brighter futures for children, families, and communities. We can’t wait to see where your advocacy journey takes you next.
