Why taking a moment to say “thank you” matters.
It is easy to see why child care matters. Child care helps children learn and grow, gives parents the ability to work, and keeps the economy going strong. Families in every community depend on child care, and support for child care reaches across political and geographic lines!
Child care providers make the next generation possible. They support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development every day, while also operating on razor-thin profit margins.
Like employees in any profession, child care providers do their best work when they feel valued. Gallup found that employees who receive meaningful recognition are four times more likely to be engaged in their work.
The impact of recognition:
- Boosts morale: Feeling appreciated increases job satisfaction and energy.
- Supports professional growth: Recognition reminds providers that their work matters and encourages them to continue growing in their profession.
- Strengthens communities: Communities that value child care providers invest in children’s futures.
- Reduces burnout: Recognition helps providers feel supported and valued, which can encourage them to stay in the profession longer.
Provider Appreciation Day is a day to recognize the dedication, skill, and heart of the people who care for our children every day. On May 8, make an effort to say #ThankYouChildCare.
