May 6: “Nebraska Supports Head Start” Rally at the Nebraska State Capitol
On Tuesday, May 6th, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, we will gather at the Nebraska State Capitol to amplify the message that Head Start matters to children, families, and communities in Nebraska. We are proud to partner with First Five Nebraska, the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation, Lincoln Littles, and the Community Action Partnership of Lancaster and Saunders Counties to make our voices heard! May 9: Provider Appreciation Day
Provider Appreciation Day is on May 9th! This is a day to say #ThankYouChildCare! How will you be celebrating? NECC will attend a Proclamation signing, where Governor Jim Pillen will officially proclaim May 9th as Provider Appreciation Day in Nebraska. Stay tuned for live coverage on our social media! May 28: Head Start’s 60th Birthday Party at NECC
On Wednesday, May 28th, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, NECC will host a community birthday party to celebrate Head Start’s 60th anniversary, and all are welcome! We will have activities for children, sweet treats, door prizes, a guided walkthrough of the Head Start advantage, and opportunities for networking with community leaders. Bring your whole family for an afternoon of fun, and don’t forget to sign the birthday card!

You may qualify for a no-cost, early childhood program if your family:
- Has a child aged three or younger
- Lives in Douglas County
- Receives TANF, SSI, or SNAP benefits
- Has an income at or below 100% of the federal poverty guidelines

Eliminating Head Start would mean that over 800,000 children and families in every ZIP Code across the U.S. would lose access to vital services that support education, health, and family well-being.
