Tell us about yourself!

I am the mother of one adopted son, the wife of a Mexican immigrant, and we have two dogs. I moved to the South Omaha community from NW Omaha 2.5 years ago. I absolutely love Omaha Early Learning Center (OELC) at Gateway. I am a small business owner, and I also work full-time as an accountant. My favorite way to pass the time is thrifting and trying on vintage clothing. I like waking up early and drinking coffee at my front porch bistro table. I enjoy decorating my house, going to the dog park, couponing, and mushroom hunting.

What made you want to become a Parent Ambassador?

I received information from a few Family Engagement Specialists (FES) working at Gateway telling me that I would be a good fit for this program. I want to be involved with my son’s educational program as much as possible.

What do you see as the greatest need for your community?

Retention of quality staff for community programs. Underfunding of community programs.

What do you hope to accomplish during your Ambassadorship?

I want to learn more about our state’s educational policies and how decisions are made.

Who or what inspires you?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Stacey Abrams. They are constantly fighting the good fight, even though it’s a constant uphill battle.

Anything else you would like to add?

I am really looking forward to joining this program. Thank you for choosing me!
