Our Organization / About Us

History

The Nebraska Early Childhood Collaborative (NECC) was established in 2014 as a strategic initiative of the Buffett Early Childhood Fund. NECC relies on shared services principles to elevate the business of early care and education and to increase access to high-quality options for all Nebraska families. Through our partnership with the Omaha Early Learning Centers, we have made great strides toward our goal of providing access to high-quality early learning opportunities across our communities. For our organizational partners and the community, that means more qualified teachers and staff, stronger fiscal and program management, and additional access to high-quality coaching and training resources. Even more exciting than the progress we have made, is the potential the Collaborative holds to impact many more child care providers across Nebraska and beyond. In addition to continuing to work to strengthen and grow our Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership, NECC looks forward to extending our business services and professional development opportunities to new providers in the coming years.

Where We’re Headed

Support

While our partners provide direct services to families and children, NECC serves as the backbone and support for these organizations. Our work includes, but is not limited to: finance administration, accounting, operations, human resources, professional development, coaching and training, comprehensive family engagement, and health services.

Access

Access to consistent, caring relationships and high-quality learning opportunities lays the foundation for success in school and in life. Unfortunately, many families do not have access to the affordable, high-quality early learning opportunities their children need.

The Collaborative is working to solve this problem in three ways:

  • Coordinating community services to help families with young children succeed
  • Connecting child care providers with educational support and business resources
  • Collaborating with providers to strengthen leadership and inspire innovation in early learning

The Future

Moving forward, we will pursue our mission through those three primary strategic directions. We will work to improve business operations, utilize high-quality hiring and onboarding, promote best practices, provide professional development, leverage our infrastructure to facilitate high-quality service delivery, and introduce pioneering tools and technology.
